Wolfgang is a senior researcher at the Centre for Science & Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University. In 2015, he obtained his PhD degree (highest honors) from the same institution. His dissertation used approaches from Science & Technology Studies to understand how digital research tools and infrastructures change scholarly practices in the humanities. Between 2015 and 2018, Wolfgang conducted postdoctoral work at the Munich Center for Technology in Society at the Technical University of Munich. Wolfgang’s current research focus is on the politics of quantification in evaluation processes, on academic curricula vitae as devices for comparison in peer review, and on practices of publishing, reviewing, and editing academic literature. Wolfgang’s research has appeared in journals such as Social Studies of ScienceMinerva, and Science & Public Policy.

Wolfgang is a member of the editorial board of Science as Culture. He also is a member of the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST).
