Dr. Chonnettia Jones, a respected scientist with extensive health research funding experience, leads MSFHR’s funding programs, ensuring support for the province’s talented health researchers in improving the health of British Columbians and their health system. She also guides MSFHR’s knowledge translation, partnership and evaluation activities to maximize the impact of MSFHR’s investments in health research.

Chonnettia spent eight years with the Wellcome Trust, a UK-based private foundation dedicated to improving human health through research, innovation, policy and engagement. She held several progressively more senior roles, culminating as a member of the executive leadership team and the director of insight and analysis, responsible for assessing the performance and impact of Wellcome’s funded research and activities. Prior to her time at Wellcome, Chonnettia managed a collaborative scientific research program at the Janelia Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She holds a PhD in biochemistry, cell and developmental biology from Emory University in Atlanta.
